Delhi Temp Drops to 4°C, 18 Trains Cancelled, 5 Flights Delayed

The minimum temperature at 4.2 degree Celsius is three notches below the season’s average.

Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to another foggy morning on Saturday, 6 January, as the minimum temperature dropped to 4.2 degree Celsius. This temperature is three notches below the season's average.

Rail, air and road transportation were heavily affected due to dense fog leading to low visibility.

India Today reported that five flights and 49 trains from Delhi were delayed, 13 trains were rescheduled and 18 cancelled.

Flights Delayed, Airlines Blame Fog

Airlines like Vistara, Spice Jet and Jet Airways took to Twitter to inform the passengers about the delay in flights due to poor visibility. They advised passengers to check the status of the flight before departing for the airport.

The Delhi Traffic police updated the people about heavy traffic due to low visibility via Twitter. They also issued a traffic advisory.

No Respite From Fog, Says MeT

As per the officials of India Meteorological Department, the sky will remain unclear during the day as moderate fog is expected and the maximum temperature will be around 18 degree Celsius. However, things could get better on Sunday, 7 January, as less fog is expected, reports The Hindustan Times.

Visibility had dropped down to 300 meters at 5:30 am due dense fog on Saturday. However, visibility is expected to improve during the course of the day as fog reduces.
