At least 12 people are feared dead and several are reported to be injured in a suspected cylinder blast at a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, that led to the collapse of a two-storey building on Monday, 14 October, ANI reported.

Around 15 people sustained injuries in the blast, District Magistrate Gyan Prakash Tripathi told PTI.

While the number of casualties varies across multiple reports, according to ANI, several are still feared to be trapped under the debris.

The rescue operations are currently underway.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed authorities to provide all possible relief and medical help to those injured.

“UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the blast in Walidpur where 10 persons have died. He has expressed deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and directed the DM and SP to immediately provide all possible relief and help to the injured persons,” he said.
