QCrime: Nigerian Found Dead in Delhi; Tempo Kills 13-Yr-Old Child

1. School Trustee Arrested For Alleged Rape of Student
A week after the Bombay High Court pulled up the Mumbai Police for its “casual approach” while investigating a case of sexual abuse of a three-year-old girl, the police arrested the trustee of the school on Tuesday.
The girl had alleged that the trustee of the school, along with a woman teacher, had sexually abused and raped her in school. In addition, the probe in the case has now been handed over to an ACP-rank officer.
A press release issued by ACP (Meghwadi division), who is now investigating the case, stated that they arrested the trustee, a 56-year-old French national, in connection with the case. The release added that the accused was produced before court in Dindoshi, which remanded him in police custody till 14 November.
2. Nigerian National Found Dead in 20ft Deep Drain in Delhi
A Nigerian national was found dead in a drain near Saket Metro station in south Delhi early on Sunday. Exact cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, though police suspect that the man could have drowned in the drain. The autopsy report is still awaited.
The Saket Police Station had received a call about the incident at 2:15 am. The caller claimed a man had fallen into a drain near the Metro station. Police are now trying to find if it was an accident or if the foreign national had been pushed into the drain by somebody.
“We have not ruled out the possibility that the man could have been murdered. Chances of suicide and accidental death are also being probed,” a police officer said. Police suspect the man was drunk and slipped into the drain.
3. Woman Held for Murdering Insurance Agent in Mumbai
A 67-year-old woman was found dead in Virar on Monday night, a day after she went missing. Police have arrested a debt-ridden widow for her murder. Kirtinidhai Sharma, an insurance agent living in Poonam Imperial, an apartment complex in Virar west, had left home at 5:45 pm on Sunday. When she did not return home, her son registered a missing person complaint at Arnala police station.
The police found her body outside an apartment at Global City Complex on Monday. The police said her gold jewellery, Apple iPhone and iPad were missing.
Investigations revealed that Sharma had gone to meet a woman she befriended recently at a beauty parlour.
4. Mob Assaults Girl Over Man's Suicide in Kolkata
A mob of around 150 people allegedly assaulted a 19-year-old girl in New Town area of Kolkata on Tuesday, blaming her for the death of a 22-year-old man, who ‘committed’ suicide.
The mob even allegedly assaulted cops and damaged a police vehicle when they tried to rescue the girl, sources said.
Surajit Roy (22) allegedly hung himself in his house in New Town’s Santimoynagar in the morning, police sources said. Following the death, locals caught hold of Puja Haldar (19) of Ananda Pally, accusing her of pressurising Roy for marriage.
5. Noida Gang Used Chinese Toolkit to Steal Vehicles
Noida police has busted a notorious inter-state vehicle lifting gang, which stole hundreds of vehicles from Delhi-NCR region, Rajasthan, MP and UP in last 15 years. The police nabbed six members of the gang and seized high-tech electronic gadgets, a host of duplicate number plates, spanners etc used for stealing the cars.
“We received a tip-off about their activities a few days ago. Accordingly, on Monday evening, the police carried out a routine vehicle check at Hajipur intersection and nabbed three persons travelling in a stolen Hyundai Creta,” Love Kumar, senior superintendent of police, Gautam Budh Nagar, said.
Based on leads provided by them during interrogation, police raided their residences in Sector 47 and nabbed three more accomplices and seized six more cars. However, four other members of the gang managed to escape in another Hyundai Creta.
6. Tempo Kills 13-Yr-Old, Injures 3 Siblings Walking to School
A 13-year-old class VIII student died and three of her schoolmates, who are siblings, suffered grievous injuries after a speeding tempo plowed into them and dragged them a few metres on Marve Road near T junction in Malad on Tuesday morning.
Muskan Memon, Neha Mewati (13) and her brothers Kamal (12) and Bhupendra (9), all residents of a slum at gate no 6 and 7 in Malwani, were walking to school around 8 am, when the accident took place. Muskan died on the spot, while Neha is in ICU. Kamal (12) and Bhupendra (9), a cancer patient, have suffered leg fractures.
7. Three Sentenced to Death in Rajasthan for Killing Woman, Son After Raping Her
A special court in Rajasthan’s Kota sentenced three persons to death on Tuesday for raping a 30-year-old woman and killing her along with her minor son during a robbery in December 2012.
The Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe (SC/ST) special court in Kota also imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on each of the three convicts under various sections of IPC, Arms Act and SC/ST Act.
The three were booked in December 2012 in Udhyognagar police station of the city on charges of robbery, gang rape and murder.
Special SC/ST court judge Girish Kumar Agrawal convicted Kapil alias Anna, Imran alias Dillhi Wala, both residents of Udhyognagar area of Kota city, and Tipu alias Sultan alias Aabeed of Tonk district, said special public prosecutor (SPP) Kamal Kant Sharma.
8. German Tourist Assaulted in UP Arrested for Travelling on a Forged Visa
A German national, who was involved in an altercation with a railway employee at Robertsganj railway station in Sonbhadra district, has been arrested for allegedly travelling on a forged visa, the police said on Monday.
Holger Erik Misch, a resident of Berlin, had on 3 November entered into an altercation with railway employee Aman Kumar and had also allegedly attacked two policemen with a stick, they said.
“The German national has been arrested. First of all he did not have a tourist visa and secondly he was carrying a forged visa,” superintendent of Police, Sonbhadra, RP Singh told PTI over phone.
9. Man Gets Jail Term for Murder of Friend
Ironically, a few minutes before sentencing the man, principal district judge G Mahizhenthi had found that the first information report (FIR) had been manipulated to protect the accused in the case, Ezhilarasan of Vel Nagar in Tiruvannamalai.
The judge awarded Ezhilarasan three life sentences under Sections of 120 b (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 302 (murder) and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery) read with 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
