1. Ryan School Murder: Juvenile Accused Retracts Confession, Says He Was Forced Into It

The juvenile accused of murdering Class 2 student Pradhyumn Thakur at Gurgaon’s Ryan International School has retracted the confession he was said to have made before investigators, sources told HT on Monday.

The investigators forced him to confess, the accused said on Monday to a team of CBI officials, and a legal-cum-probation officer from the district child protection unit appointed by the Juvenile Justice Board to conduct a social investigation, sources said. The boy is said to have alleged the investigators beat him up and recorded the confession in their own words.

A CBI spokesperson refused to comment.

2. Gangster Saraj Singh Sandhu Owns up to Hindu Leader Vipin Sharma's Murder

Gangster Saraj Singh Sandhu on Monday uploaded a Facebook post and claimed responsibility for the murder of Hindu outfit leader Vipin Sharma in Amritsar.

Saraj and his accomplices, Shubham and Dharminder Singh, who are wanted in the Sharma murder case, are at large. The only arrest is of Saraj’s mother Sukhraj Kaur last week on charges of harbouring the three accused.

“Vipin Sharma has been punished for his mistakes. He was behind the murder of a policeman – father of my friend. This murder has nothing to do with religion. Those who are spreading rumours against us should be careful,” read the post purportedly uploaded by Saraj.

3. Man Rapes Mentally Challenged Woman in Madhya Pradesh

A man was caught red-handed while raping a 23-year-old mentally challenged woman in a public urinal in Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.

The accused, Govind Balai, had forcibly taken the woman to the public urinal in Dulwa village of Dewas district early in the morning, Nemawar police said.

A shopkeeper, Abhishek Jat, was opening his establishment when he heard commotion from the urinal and went to check, they said, adding, he saw the accused zipping his pants and the woman lying on the floor of the dirty urinal.

4. Police by His Side, Undertrial Gunned Down at Rohini Court

A 30-year-old undertrial in an alleged cheating case was shot dead inside Rohini court premises on Monday while being taken for hearing. The attacker walked up behind the victim and opened fire — in presence of an assistant sub-inspector of the Third Battalion of Delhi Police escorting the undertrial.

Personnel posted with the Third Battalion are entrusted with ferrying undertrials to the court and back to jail. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal told The Indian Express that the attacker, “in his early 20s”, is a resident of Nangloi. After he fired the fatal shot, he kept the firearm on the ground and raised his hands so police could arrest him. “He told police he had been hired by someone to kill the person, but we are verifying his claims,” said Pal. Police said they are looking into whether there was someone else at the spot to help him.

5. Two Cops Accused of Extorting Rs 40k From Wine-shop Staff

Two officers from Goregaon Police Station have been suspended for allegedly extorting Rs 40,000 from the manager of a wine shop. One of the suspended cops had allegedly conducted a fake raid at Swagat Wines on SV Road in Goregaon (W) on 3 November, along with an unidentified person who claimed to be a journalist. The other cop allegedly threatened the shop’s manager, Santosh Adhikari, when he was brought to Goregaon police station. The victim later complained to the additional commissioner of police, who launched an inquiry.

According to the police, on 3 November, Assistant Inspector Datattray Gund and Sub-inspector Gauraksh Ghodake were on night duty. The complainant, Adhikari, was in the shop at that time. He alleged that two people, one of them a cop and the other claiming to be a journalist, came to the shop and threatened him.

6. Thieves Dig Tunnel to Rob Bank in Navi Mumbai's Juinagar

Thieves dug up a deep tunnel to sneak into the Bank of Baroda's Juinagar Branch in Mumbai and reportedly escaped with Rs 1 crore in cash and valuables from over 100 safe boxes, police said on Monday.

According to a police official, the robbery may have taken place during the weekend holiday, but came to light when the branch opened on Monday morning.

Investigators said the tunnel was dug from outside to the bank's store room which houses private lockers. But the robbers could not break open the main safe vault housing the bank's cash reserves.

7. Man Attacked for Driving on Wrong Side

A 22-year-old youth was assaulted by an unknown person in a road rage on Sunday midnight in Chandra Layout police station limits. The victim has been identified as Imtiyaz, a resident of Avalahalli at KR Puram.

Police said that Imtiyaz was assaulted as he was driving on the wrong side on a one-way street; a man riding a Honda Activa accosted him to chide him. The argument turned into a fistfight. In Imtiyaz’s defence, police said that he was in Chandra Layout for some work and since he did not know the area, he ended driving on the wrong side of the road around 1.45 am when he was on his way back home.

“An unknown person was riding his Honda Activa scooter (registration number KA-03-AD-9210) on the right side of the road. The rider stopped Imtiyaz by intercepting his car. He got into an argument with Imtiyaz and questioned him how he was driving against the one-way traffic flow.

8. Girl Gangraped on College Campus

A gang raped a minor girl on the campus of a college in Malkangiri district of Odisha, allegedly by three youth on 9 November.

The accused had allegedly recorded the video of their misdeed on their phones.

When contacted, the Inspector in-charge of the Mathili station, said the survivor had identified all the accused. As the survivor and the accused are minors, police refused to divulge more details.

According to the victim’s complaint, when she went to attend practical classes, the three forcefully took her to a secluded spot on the college campus and raped her. The miscreants allegedly stripped her and shot a video on their mobile phones. They threatened the girl with putting the video on social network and attacking her family members if she revealed the incident to anyone.

9. Chennai: Woman Held for Killing Paramour's Daughter

Police on Monday arrested a 28-year-old woman for murdering the four-year-old daughter of her paramour by dumping the child into a bucket of water at Kundrathur.

The arrested woman, S Asha, a divorcee, lived with her seven-year-old son at her younger brother’s house. She developed a relationship with advocate Dharmalingam (31) while she was a domestic help at the latter’s house in Kundrathur and was impregnated by him.

Dharmalingam was separated from his wife and child for the past 18 months. About a month ago, both of them got into an agreement wherein the man would spend every weekend with their four-year-old child Goshini.
