1. Debt-Ridden Man Poisons Minor Children, Hangs Self

A 40-year-old man battling a financial crisis allegedly murdered his minor son and daughter and later committed suicide at his house in Ghaziabad’s Sihani near Raj Nagar Extension early Tuesday, 12 March.

Notes recovered in his room stated that the man, Sundar Singh, who ran an eatery at Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, was trying for a loan but it did not materialise, police said.

2. Mastering Foreign Accents, They Offered Tech Support; Cheated Customers Abroad

The police have arrested the winner of Mr Haryana 2018 title and his friend, who owns a call centre, for allegedly duping foreigners into revealing their bank account details on the pretext of offering tech support.

The other members of the gang were identified as Mohit Bansal, a class 12 dropout, Udit, a school dropout who is well trained in speaking in an American accent, Guraman Singh, a former call centre employee and Pfokreni, of Manipur, who had experience working in a call centre.

Police have recovered 106 hard disks, 28 SIM cards, 4 servers and Rs 7.40 lakh from the six men.

3. Mumbai Man Gets 10 Years in Jail for Raping Schoolgirl

A court here Tuesday, 12 March, sentenced a man to 10 years in jail for raping and impregnating a schoolgirl on the promise of marrying her.

Mahesh Jadhav (22) was found guilty of rape under section 376 of IPC and relevant provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act by additional sessions Judge M A Baraliya, who also fined him Rs 20,000.

The survivor, who was 17 at the time of the incident, has told court that Jadhav had befriended her at a computer class in suburban Ghatkopar area.

4. Pak Spy Assigned to Collect Info on Indian Army Arrested in Rajasthan: Official

A 36-year-old man, who was detained near the International Border on suspicion of spying for Pakistan, has been arrested, officials said here Tuesday, 12 March.

Nawab Khan, a resident of Sam area near the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district, was detained on Sunday, an official said.

Khan was involved in espionage activities and was working as a jeep driver, Additional Director General of Intelligence Umesh Mishra said.

5. Multi-Crore Racket with Links to Noida Busted in Hyderabad

The Cyberabad Police in Hyderabad on Tuesday, 12 March, busted an alleged multilevel marketing scam worth Rs 1,000 crore, involving a Noida-based company eBiz.com Private Limited and froze its bank deposits worth more than Rs 70 crore.

Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjannar said that the company had duped more than seven lakh people across the country. “We have arrested Hitik Malhan (31), who looks after the company’s activities and are on the lookout for his parents — Pavan Malhan, the managing director and Anita Malhan, its director,” he said.

6. Delivery Man Among 2 Held for Duping Buyer with ‘Dummy’ Phone

Two men, including a former Flipkart delivery employee, have been arrested for duping a customer with a dummy mobile phone.

In May last year, accused Satyender Singh (22) had ordered a Vivo V9 mobile phone from Flipkart, replaced it with a dummy phone and sealed the box with the help of delivery man Ishwer Chandra (24), and then cancelled the order, said a police officer.

The “dummy” phone reached another customer Ajit Kumar, who then filed a complaint at Mundka police station.

7. Missing Woman’s Body Found in Septic Tank, 3 Held

Five days after a 25-year-old woman from Faridabad was reported missing by her parents, police Monday, 11 March, retrieved her body from a septic tank in Delhi and arrested three persons for her murder.

Police said the accused, Ambika Bhagat, Madhu Tiwari and her son Manish, were apprehended at the NHPC Chowk Metro station on Monday.

The victim, Anamika Kumar, was reported missing on 6 March. Her husband claimed she left home at 12 pm for work. She worked at a finance company.

8. Officer Shot, Injured While Responding to Kalamazoo Shooting in Michigan, US

Authorities say a police officer has been shot while responding to a shooting at a plasma donation centre in southwestern Michigan.

Kalamazoo police say the officer's injuries aren't life-threatening. Lisa Walterhouse, an employee at the downtown plasma centre, tells the Kalamazoo Gazette that police responded Tuesday, 12 March, after a former employee entered the building and fired shots.

Walterhouse says the gunman told people to call 911. She says, "Then we ran."

9. Two Arrested with 750 Cartons of Liquor Worth Rs 28 Lakh in Ghaziabad

Two persons have been arrested with 750 cartons of liquor worth Rs 28 lakh at Ram Vihar road in Banthla, police said Tuesday, 12 March.

DIG Upendra Agarwal said following a tip-off Loni town police seized a truck on Monday.

The accused have been identified as Bal Kishan and Amar Chand, resident Hisar district in Haryana, police said.
