QCrime: Cop Held for Raping Daughter; Man Kills Sister-in-Law

1. Constable Held for Raping 6-Year Old Daughter

A police constable has been arrested for allegedly raping his six-year-old daughter in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, an official said Wednesday.

As per the complaint filed by the 45-year-old accused's wife, he allegedly raped the child at their home in the city on March 29 and threatened her not to disclose it to anyone, the police official said.

The girl, however, later informed about the incident to her mother who approached the police on Monday, he said.

The accused, posted at Sarangarh police station in the district, was arrested on Tuesday, the official said.

He was booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The accused was later produced in a local court which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days, he said.

2. Man Kills Sister-In-Law in Bikaner

A man allegedly killed his sister-in-law with an axe here on Wednesday, police said.

Salman and his sister-in-law Simran (38) had a heated argument over a domestic issue, they added.

Salman attacked her with an axe, killing her on the spot, Sadar Police Station In-charge Rishi Raj said.

The deceased's husband was not outside home when the incident took place, he said.

Raj said the victim's husband registered a case against his brother, search for whom is on.

3. Doctor Booked for Attempting to Rape Woman

An FIR has been registered against a doctor who reportedly attempted to rape a woman while taking her blood sample in Shamli district, police said Wednesday.

The incident was reported from Jhinjhana police station area on Tuesday, they said.

The accused Jasvir visited the 24-year-old victim to collect her blood sample. He then tried to force himself on the woman, police said.

The victim raised an alarm and the accused ran away from the spot, they said.

Efforts are on to trace Jasvir, police added.

4. Gujarat University Professor Suspended After Sexual Assault Allegation

Gujarat University (GU) suspended Vasishta D Bhatt, an associate professor at the department of chemistry, on Wednesday after an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) report confirmed sexual misconduct on his part, following a departmental inquiry.

All five research scholars registered under him will be transferred to other guides.

The professor was barred from entering the campus on March 25, a day after one of his research scholars alleged “heinous and lewd behaviour” by him and complained to Vice Chancellor Himanshu Pandya and GU’s Women Development Committee (WDC).

5. Mumbai Police Searching for Several Abducted Children

Mumbai Crime Branch is looking for several children who were allegedly abducted and sold by five persons arrested on Tuesday.

The accused, who have been identified as Afreen Khan, Mubina Khan, Amira and Azim Divekar, and Mohammad Azharuddin, an autorickshaw driver, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old boy from a village near Daighar, and have been sent to police custody for 10 days.

Afreen allegedly confessed to abducting and killing several children.

6. Cop Held for Taking Rs 80,000 Bribe

A police head constable has been arrested in Thane district of Maharashtra for allegedly taking Rs 80,000 as bribe from a theft case accused, the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Wednesday.

The accused, Ramdas Misal (46), posted at the Ulhasnagar crime unit, demanded Rs 1.35 lakh from the theft case accused, saying if the money was paid, he would not be arrested, the ACB said in a release.

The aggrieved man lodged a complaint with the Thane unit of ACB which laid a trap and caught the policeman while he was taking Rs 80,000 as first instalment of the bribe in his car in Ulhasnagar town here on Tuesday evening, it said.

The policeman was subsequently arrested and booked under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the release added.

7. Two Arrested for Running Fake BPO in Kolkata

Two men were arrested on Monday for allegedly running a fake BPO in south east Kolkata and duping UK citizens using VoIP calls. The BPO operated from a rented accommodation on Mahendra Dutta Lane in Topsia in Kolkata.

The arrested duo – Sohel Hussain and Nayeem Ansari would call people and inform them that personal data on their computers was at risk of being hacked, then demanding payment for 'removing' the risk.

8. Delhi Builder Dupes Four People of Rs 1.2 Crore

A 37-year-old builder from south Delhi was arrested for allegedly cheating four flat buyers, including two brothers, to the tune of Rs1.2 crore by selling them four flats, which he had already sold to four different persons, the police said Wednesday.

Deputy commissioner of police (south) Vijay Kumar said the builder Yogesh Kumar Bhati, a resident of Sultanpur village near Mehrauli, was arrested Tuesday in two cases of cheating, forgery, breach of trust and criminal conspiracy.

The cases were registered against him at the Fatehpur Beri police station last month on the complaint of four persons. They said Bhati had constructed a residential building with 12 flats for sale.

9. Mutilated Body of Six-Year-Old Boy Found in Gurugram

The mutilated body of a six-year-old boy was found in a vacant plot behind a five-star hotel in DLF Phase 1 on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The child’s skull and legs were found, but the torso was missing, they said.

Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said they have registered a case and multiple teams were trying to find the child’s torso and that all crime teams had been pressed into action.

According to the police, the deceased went missing on Monday.
