The Congress released a list of banks which received the highest amounts of demonetised currency in the five days following PM Modi’s demonetisation, along with names of board members in these who had ties to the BJP, on 22 June.
Shortly after the story broke about an RTI reply stating that a bank in which BJP President Amit Shah was a Director received the highest number of demonetised currency, over Rs 745 crores in 5 days, the Congress issued this press release:
In the press release, the Congress pointed out, sequentially, the list of co-operative banks which received some of the highest amounts in demonetised notes in the five days following 8 November 2016, and then named members on the boards of the banks who were BJP leaders or had ties to the BJP.

Congress: Why Did Media Websites Report, Then Delete the Story?
The opposition raised another question, aimed at several prominent media outlets. The Congress’ leaders asked why the media outlets had initially chosen to run the story on their websites, only to delete it later:
