The ruling AIADMK mocked the idea of an alliance between Tamil film ‘superstar’ Rajinikanth and actor-founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam Kamal Haasan, saying it would seem like a “cat and mouse living together.” An article published in the AIADMK mouthpiece Namathu Amma, said, “while Rajinikanth had announced he would take forward spiritual politics, Haasan is known for rationalism and communism.”

With the two actors announcing they could join hands, the AIADMK said Haasan has lost to Rajinikanth in the film industry and he was apprehensive now about this being repeated in politics. “Time will teach Rajini that a possible partnership with Haasan politically will not be fruitful,” the party said.
