12-Year-Old Thrashed For Not Doing Homework, Dies of ‘Depression’

As per the director of the school ‘light’ scolding and beating is necessary to maintain discipline.

A 12-year-old student of Vat Jyotiba Senior Secondary School, Kota, Mohan allegedly lost his life five days after his teachers physically reprimanded him. According to his parents, Mohan died of depression. They claim their son went into depression which lead to a fever after he was beaten up by his teacher Ramniwas Nagar, as reported by The Times of India.

The 12-year-old was admitted to New Medical College hospital on Sunday as his condition deteriorated, and he passed away during the treatment.

A case has been registered by Mahaveernagar Police and a probe into the matter has been initiated.

Parents of the deceased boy have written a complaint to us in the matter, according to which the boy was admitted to the hospital on Sunday with fever, where he died during treatment. They also alleged that their son was beaten by the school teacher for not completing homework.

The school’s director RB Suman, rubbished the allegations and added that ‘light’ scolding and beating was necessary to maintain discipline among students. He also added that Mohan’s parents were trying to malign the school by with these allegations. He also alleged that the couple is doing so under the influence of some ‘anti-school’ group.

Suman also says that the accused teacher Ramniwas Nagar has been associated with the school since July 2017, but there has been no complaint regarding his conduct as yet.

The student’s body was handed over to his family post autopsy. The police is waiting for the results of the same to investigate further.
