1. Gang Grows Ganja Under LED Light, 3 Arrested

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested three persons on the charge of growing marijuana in pots using LED lights in an apartment in Kengeri, Bengaluru. The arrested youth have been identified as Amarthya Rishi (23), Mangal Mukya (30) both from Bihar and Aditya Kumar Ajmera (21) of Hosakerehalli.

City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said that the accused had ordered marijuana seeds and other narcotic drugs from a dark website (a website not indexed by a search engine) from Netherlands using TAR browser.

The first accused, Amarthya, is studying BBM in Jain University and staying in MBR Shangri La apartment in Kengeri. Following a tip-off, Anti Narcotic Wing of CCB raided the flat and made the arrests.

2. Student Ends Life, Parents Stage Protest Outside School

The body of a 13-year-old student was found in a dry well near his house in Halasuru. The police believe that the boy ended his life. “On Thursday, around 6 am, he left his house stating that he was going out to play,” said the police.

The incident came to light around 7 am, when a neighbour discovered the body. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

“On Monday, he got into a row with a classmate in school and reportedly stabbed him with a compass,” the police added. The school management told him to bring his parents to school on Thursday.

The boy’s parents and relatives staged a protest in front of the school. As tension gripped the area, the school cancelled classes.

3. 12 People Rescued From Bonded Labour on Sugarcane Farm in Karnataka

A harrowing case of bonded labour has come to light in Karnataka’s Hassan district, where 12 people have been rescued from a sugarcane farm in connection with the case.

On December 9, a local NGO Shantha Jeeva Jyothi (SJJ) had received information that bonded labourers were kept captive at a sugarcane farm. SJJ received the information after one of the bonded labourers reached out to the NGO for help.

Around 3:30 pm on 10 December, social workers with SJJ, along with the tahsildar of Shirastedar Ravi BS, the Holenarsipura Rural Police and officials with the Labour Department went to a sugarcane farm located in Holenarsipura’s Mundanahalli and rescued 12 people from bonded labour.

4.Puneeth Comes on Board as BMTC Ambassador

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has roped in Kannada actor, Puneeth Rajkumar, as its ambassador.

Officials hope his star power will get more people to shift to buses and use the priority lane on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch from Silk Board to Swami Vivekananda Road.

BMTC chairman N.S. Nandish Reddy, Managing Director C Shikha, and Anupam Agarwal, Director, Vigilance and Security, BMTC, on Friday met Puneeth before the announcement was made.

5. Bengaluru Woman Ends Life After Alleged Dowry Harassment by Husband, In-Laws

A Bengaluru woman ended her life on Thursday night allegedly due to dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws. A resident of Mahadevapura, 27-year-old Shilpa was found dead in her house in Hoodi on Thursday night.

At around 9 pm on Thursday, Muniyamma, Shilpa’s mother-in-law, allegedly found her dead in her bedroom. Muniyamma immediately informed her son Nagesh about the death.

The family then called Shilpa’s parents Ramappa and Devamma, residents of Hoskote’s Hindignala and informed them about their daughter’s death.
