1. To Avoid Inauspicious Month, BSY Wants Cabinet Expansion by Sunday

Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa is keen on completing the cabinet expansion exercise. December 15 as Dhanurmas, an inauspicious month in the Hindu calendar, begins from December 16.

Traditionally, no ‘good’ work or project is launched during the month. The chief minister is known to be god-fearing. He is awaiting a call from Delhi to hold talks with BJP national president Amit Shah on the induction of newly-elected MLAs to into his cabinet. If he doesn’t get clearance from the high command by Sunday, cabinet expansion could be pushed to mid-January.

Anticipting the nation-wide roll out of NRC (National Register of Citizens), mosques in Karnataka have given a call to Muslims to keep their documents up-to-date.

Imams and Moulvis have been appealing to the community to set right their documents.

The Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru even opened a 'Citizen Centre' three months ago to assist people to keep their documents ready and help in addressing the anomalies, if any. "It is essential for every citizen of India to keep their documents up to date.

3. Five Men Booked for Slaughtering Cow

The Konanakunte police are on the lookout for five persons who had allegedly stolen a cow and slaughtered it and escaped after the owner of the cow spotted them in the act.

Based on the complaint filed by the owner Chamundi Yadav, the police have registered a case against the accused charging them under Sections 379 (Theft) and 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle) on Monday.

According to Yadav, he had left the cows to graze at the farm in Pillaganahalli and gone home for lunch. He returned to the field to fetch the cattle and found a group of men armed with knives and a slaughtered cow nearby.

4. HAL, Workers Settle for 12% Wage Revision

The management and workers of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for settling the workers’ wage revision with 12% fitness benefits.

The Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. announced on Wednesday that the MoU was signed here on Tuesday.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the workers will get fitment benefits at 12%; and perks and allowances under a cafeteria system at 25% for those in scales 1 to 10; and at 22% for workmen in special scale of the revised basic pay from that date, besides other benefits.

5. Karnataka Gains 1st Innings Lead Against TN

Karnataka gained the all-important first innings lead against Tamil Nadu on the third day of its Ranji Trophy Group 'B' encounter here on Wednesday, despite a superb ton by the experienced Dinesh Karthik (113).

Off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham was the star performer for Karnataka, picking up six wickets for 110 runs. Karnataka recovered from 23 for 3 in the second innings to end the day at 89 for 5, a lead of 118 runs with a day's play remaining.

Resuming at 165 for 4, a lot depended for Tamil Nadu on Karthik and the in-form batsman kept the team in the hunt with his enterprising batting.
