Three children, aged six, four and eight, went missing after school on August 27. Their mother, Najini Begum, filed a complaint with the police and told them she suspected her estranged husband.

About 11 days later, on September 7, the police found the body of Najini’s youngest child, 4-year-old Raheem in a storm-water drain near the mini forest in KG Halli. Police say two of her neighbours pointed to a 24-year-old man, Fayum Baig, who is allegedly her lover.

The police suspect that the 23-year-old mother of three knew that Fayum was responsible for her children’s disappearance and had initially misled them.

Fayum, the accused, is Najini’s husband’s cousin.

According to Bangalore Mirror, Fayum wanted to marry Najini, but his family had a problem with her having three children.

According to reports, Najini was married off when she was still a minor. It was after this that she allegedly indulged in multiple affairs, which enraged her husband, who then left her with their three children and moved to Hyderabad, six months ago.

A day before the three children went missing, Fayum had allegedly ‘caught’ Najini with another one of her paramours, which made him furious.

The police claim that the accused has “confessed” to kidnapping the children and dumping their bodies in a manhole in a small forest in Kadugondanahalli near HBR Layout, reported The News Minute.

The bodies of the other two children, however, are yet to be found.
