Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday told a rally in Mysuru to choose between a "commission sarkar" and a "mission sarkar", stepping up his attack on the Siddaramaiah government on his home turf.

At a rally in Bengaluru on 4 February, the PM had accused the Siddaramaiah government of being a "10 percent commission sarkar'', indicating it was corrupt. At the BJP rally at Maharaja's College grounds in Mysuru on Monday, Modi said: "People were upset and I got calls and messages after my 10 percent commission remark. They told me, 'You are wrong.' When I questioned them, they said the commission the Congress government takes 'is more'.''

Seven years after the first metro train chugged in the city, a long-pending demand for a separate section for women was partially met on Monday.

While a women’s coach is far from realisation, from Monday, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) reserved the first two doors of the first compartment of the train exclusively for women on an experimental basis.

And, commuters seem to be welcoming it.

With a small board and stickers on the platform clearly indicating the space reserved for women and regular announcements at the stations, security personnel had little problems in implementing the initiative.

In yet another setback for controversial self-styled godman Nithyananda, the trial court in Karnataka dismissed a discharge petition by him and five of his associates in a criminal case.

The court will hear the matter on 28 February and the framing of charges are expected to take place then.

A case under Sections 295 A (insulting religious belief), 420 (cheating), 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 506 (i) (criminal Intimidation) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against 44-year-old Nithyananda in 2010 by Ramanagara police after the case was transferred to them.

This development comes after the Supreme Court in December 2017 directed the Ramanagara Sessions Court to go ahead and frame charges against Nithyananda and conduct a speedy trial.
