Almost 14 years after being conceptualised, the much-awaited Signature Bridge, which promises to reduce the travel time between north and north east Delhi, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday, 4 November.

The Signature Bridge will be thrown open to the public on 5 November, NDTV reported.

After missing several deadlines, it took almost eight years to build the 575 metre-long, boomerang-shaped bridge which gives a panoramic view of the city. The bridge also has designated selfie spots for tourists.

The Signature Bridge is the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India, offering a panoramic view of the national capital. The bridge will also have four elevators, which will take a total of 50 people to the top of the bridge, reported NDTV.

“It will have designated spots for selfie-crazed Delhiites. The elevators area likely to be operational in two months,” an official told NDTV.

The bridge is said to reduce travel time between Ghaziabad and Bhopura borders by at least 30 minutes.

However, it will take at least three more months before the 154-metre-high glass box which acts as an observation deck is opened to the general public.
