Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has asked the Delhi University Students’ Union President Ankiv Baisoya to resign from his post.

ABVP has also relieved Baisoya from his responsibilities within the organisation till the inquiry is over in connection with the alleged fake degree case.

“We have asked DUSU President Ankiv Baisoya to resign from his post and also expelled him from all the responsibilities of the organization till the inquiry is over,” said the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in a statement.

Later, ABVP issued a fresh statement saying that Baisoya has not been expelled but “suspended,” as reported by ANI.

ABVP Deems the Controversy as Propaganda

The press release by ABVP further stated that a “propaganda is in continuation since he came to power.”

“This propaganda is in continuation since he came to power. ABVP at that time gave its clear stand that Delhi University has all the rights to verify documents and must do it to stop all the rumours,” the press release stated.

“Keeping in mind students’ struggle, emotions and expectations and in order to maintain the genuineness of Delhi University Students Union, ABVP asked Ankiv to resign from his post and also removed him from all the responsibilities of organisation till DU completes the verification process.”
Statement by ABVP

State secretary, Bharat Khatana said, “ABVP is an organisation which is always committed to the student’s cause. This incident is continuously tarnishing the image of Delhi University Student Union and also raising question on student’s mandate.”

“So we request DU administration to complete the verification process as soon as possible and must produce the result in public domain. We also condemn the delay done by DU in the whole process,” Khatana said.
