Selfies have killed in the past, but in a unique case, a man who killed his wife was found after seven years through a selfie he posted on Facebook, reported the Times of India.

In 2009, Mani, 45, and his wife shifted from abroad to Ariyalur district in Tirchy.

Mani suspected his wife’s infidelity and in a fit of rage, slit her throat before fleeing to Chennai. He was working at a restaurant in Tondiarpet as a server and subsequently cut all contact with his family as well.

His family was convinced that he was also dead, and the police were not able to get a whiff of his whereabouts either.

However, his unsuspecting relatives got a rude shock when they found a picture of Mani recently uploaded on Facebook. They located him at the restaurant where he worked, where he tried to evade them again.

His relatives informed the police about him, who picked him up and took him into custody. On Wednesday, Mani was brought in front of the Ariyalur judicial magistrate court. He is now in the Tirchy Central Prison.
