A 10-year-old boy from a school in Pune was allegedly beaten by a teacher, to the point where he had to undergo surgery for internal injury, for failing to provide his Aadhaar number as demanded by the school.

Police officials said that the incident took place in the last week of September, in Morya Shikshan Sanstha High School in Pune’s Chinchwad area.

I had submitted a copy of the Aadhaar card along with the admission form itself. After the second notice, I gave another copy of the document to the class teacher. He might have misplaced the print and hit my son to cover up his shoddy act.

The beating reportedly led to internal injuries, infection, and sepsis, for which the victim had to undergo surgery that cost as much as Rs 1.5 lakh.

He did not tell us that he had been beaten because he did not want us to get worried. But a day later, he started limping and was in severe pain. A couple of days later, when he told what had happened, the pain was even more severe. It led to infection and sepsis. He had to undergo surgery. His treatment has cost over Rs 1.5 lakh.
