29 Tripura Rifles Personnel Injured in Bus Accident, No Casualties

The Army personnel were coming to Agartala to board a train to Chattisgarh for election duty.

At least 22 personnel of 8th battalion of Tripura State Rifles were injured in a bus accident in Baramura hills area of West Tripura district, reported ANI. The accident took place late on Monday, 22 October.

The Army personnel were reportedly coming from Dhalai district's Lalcherra to Agartala, to board a train to Chattisgarh for election duty. All the injured have been admitted to a hospital.

All 29 personnel of the 8th battalion of Tripura State Rifles have been admitted to the hospital. Two of the injured have been shifted to Kolkata, ANI reported.

Chief Minister of Tripura Biplab Deb reached hospital to meet the injured and take a stock of the situation.

Adding to this, the Director General of Police told ANI that two of the injured, were in a bit of a serious condition, as a result of which, the doctors transferred them for treatment to Kolkata.

“All of them are conscious. A train was leaving from Agaratala tomorrow (Tuesday) for Chhattisgarh for election duty. They were a part of the battalion which was leaving tomorrow,” Director General of Police said, ANI reported.
