Alwar Police on Sunday, 6 October, arrested two persons for allegedly thrashing a Muslim couple and forcing them to say “Jai Shri Ram” on Saturday night, the police said, according to the Hindustan Times.The incident occurred when the couple was waiting at Alwar bus stand on Saturday night and two bike-borne men harassed them. "One of the men misbehaved with the woman, showing inappropriate gestures," Station house officer of Alwar Mahila Thana Chauthmal Verma told ANI.The onlookers intervened and called the police when the man flashed before the women, Verma added.The accused have been identified as Surinder Mohan Bhatia (33) and Vansh Bhardwaj (23), who are both residents of Alwar.An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway.According to the police officer, Bhatia was found to be drunk after a medical examination was carried out on him.Don’t Chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ for Killers: Lynched Inspector’s FamilyThe two have been booked under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt ), 295 (injuring or defiling place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Hindustan Times reported.(With inputs from Hindustan Times and ANI.)
