India on 15 September rejected Pakistan's statements related to Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations, when the latter made references to Jammu and Kashmir on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Pakistan had blamed India for human rights violations in the state, further accusing it of denying Kashmiris the right to determine where they belong.

According to ANI, India responded to Pakistan's statements by saying "OIC has no locus standi on India's internal affairs."

Dr Sumit Seth, First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of India to UN, said:

India notes with utmost regret that the OIC in its statement contains factually incorrect and misleading references to the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral and inseparable part of India.

Further adding that India "outrightly rejects" the references, Seth said the OIC has no "locus standi on India's internal affairs."

"We strongly advise the OIC to refrain from making such references in future."
