  • A group of women of Narhauli village, Uttar Pradesh protested against lack of water and power supply in their area by climbing on top of an overhead water tank. They threatened to jump, if the supply was not restored. A dust storm on Monday morning had resulted in water and power cuts.

  • “No overhead water tank has been commissioned so far even after completion of work over a year before. Even the handpumps in the village are not working,” said Saroj Devi, the village pradhan.

  • The women came down only after the District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar arranged for water tankers for the village. “Orders have been issued to ensure power supply by tonight,” Kumar said.
