Two Indian Men Held in China for Trying to Molest Woman

Two Indian men have been detained by Chinese police for allegedly trying to molest a Taiwanese tourist in a hotel in Beijing. The two men, hailing from Haryana, were part of a group of traders brought in by an Indian tea company.

According to the CCTV footage from 7 July, the two men, a 28 and a 50-year-old, were purportedly seen taking photographs with the woman and later pulling her inside a lift as she was getting out. The older man was then seen trying to molest her.

The two men have been detained till July 14 and it is not yet clear whether they will be released or allowed to leave the country, officials sources said. The Indian Embassy is expected to be officially informed on Monday of their detention.
