If you just have to have the best, most expensive things in life, then a Rolls Royce Phantom should be on that list. The eighth-generation Rolls Royce Phantom has just been launched in India at a sticker price between Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 11.35 crore. The car is the epitome of luxury in the automobile world.

The variable price is because the car can be customised in any way that a customer wants. From different shades of leather from specific livestock in certain regions of the globe, to the exact shade and pattern of wood finish on the inside, the car offers multiple levels of customisation.

Who would buy one at that price, you say? Consider this, Rolls Royce has a production capacity of only 4,000 cars annually, and if you want one, you will have to wait about 10 months, as it already has its order books full.

What makes the Rolls Royce Phantom so special? It sports air suspension all around, which can iron out even the harshest of roads. It comes with 130 Kg of sound insulation material and double laminated glass all around. This makes it exceptionally quiet, claims the company.

In fact, a company statement says that Rolls Royce engineers had to check if their equipment was correctly calibrated after noticing the exceptionally low sound levels in tests. Marketing spiel? Perhaps, but the cars are pretty quiet.

The Rolls Royce Phantom is powered by a 6.75 litre, twin-turbo, 12-cylinder engine that puts out 563PS of power and 900 Nm of torque. It can go from 0-100 kmph in 5.4 seconds. It sports a new chassis that’s lighter, yet 30 percent stiffer, than its predecessor the company claims.

Time to start looking for letters of understanding, if you want one!

(The Quint, in association with BitGiving, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for an 8-month-old who was raped in Delhi on 28 January 2018. The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
