Chaos broke into the West Bengal assembly over the Property Damage bill after the Opposition demanded more amendments in the bill.

The Mamata Banerjee government has reportedly introduced an amendment in the West Bengal Prevention of Defacement of Property Act to put an end to vandalism. If passed, the amended bill could send vandals or rioters in prison up to 7 years for damaging property.

Congress MLA and Leader of Opposition, Abdul Mannan, was seriously injured in the ruckus that ensued and was hospitalised. He was suspended by Speaker Biman Banerjee as he continued his protest holding placards against the government for bringing in the Bill. Mannan termed it a "black law" and did not listen to the Speaker.

The Congress and Left legislators staged a walkout from the House in protest.
