Prominent Pakistani Sikh Doctor-Bureaucrat Shot Dead
Doctor Soran Singh was Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Minority Affairs.
A prominent Pakistani Sikh doctor and politician was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on Friday. Singh’s car was ambushed by unknown assailants on main road near a shrine. His body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem, police said.
A Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), singh was elected from District Buner. The Deputy Commissioner, ADC Buner and police officials rushed to the site.
Sardar Soran Singh was assassinated in Pir Baba area of Buner District of the province, police said.
Singh was a doctor, TV anchor, politician and Minister of Minorities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before being appointed as the Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Minority Affairs.
Before joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2011 he was a member of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan for nine years.
He was also member of Tehsil council, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) – a prominent Sikh group in Pakistan – and Evacuee Trust Property Board.
