Double Entry e-Tourist Visas For Thai Visitors: PM Modi

The India-Thailand Joint Business Forum will hold its first meeting during the visit.

In a joint statement with Thai PM Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India and Thailand have agreed to forge a closer partnership in the fields of defence, maritime cooperation and have prioritised the completion of India-Myanmar-Thailand highway.

PM Modi also announced that India will soon welcome more tourists from Thailand, and in this regard will facilitate a system of double entry e-tourist visas for citizens of Thailand.

Chan-o-cha said that elevating bilateral relationship will make the partnership between India and Thailand stronger in all areas, and added that his Indian counterpart has agreed to encourage Indian businessmen to invest in Thailand.

Modi will host a lunch in honour of Chan-o-cha who is on a three-day visit to India. Both leaders are expected to hold extensive talks on Friday, and are likely to explore ways to expand maritime security cooperation, and discuss the situation in the South China Sea.

Chan-o-Cha is also expected to deliver a speech at the business event hosted by FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM on Friday. The India-Thailand Joint Business Forum will hold its first meeting during the visit and make recommendations for boosting trade ties between the two countries.
