In the attack, seven security personnel and six terrorists were killed. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the attack with the help of the Indian Army and the Punjab police.
Tight security arrangements were in place for the Prime Minister’s visit. No one was allowed to enter the area near the Air Force Station (AFS), located 250 km from Chandigarh.

PM Modi was taken around the air base by the defence and security officers. He is likely to fly to the Pakistan border in Punjab in an IAF helicopter for a first-hand account of the security measures.

The terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into India from Pakistan by taking advantage of the broken border fencing.

India has shared the evidence collected during the ongoing investigation with Pakistan. According to the promise made by the Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan will review the evidence and take swift action.
