Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary.
“Salutations to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary”, Prime Minister Modi said in an official release.
Highlights of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Speech
- The loss of Dr. APJ Kalam is monumental, I am sure his absence is a challenge for all of us.
- Dr. Kalam was first a “rashtra-ratna” and only then “rashtrapati”. After finishing his tenure as President, he went on to to do what he loved most, teach.
- Our government has acquired land in his birthplace to build a memorial for him. We want it to be an inspiration for future generations.
- Dr. Kalam was always looking for challenges and ways to overcome them.
Bharat Ratna awardee Kalam, who passed away on July 27, was the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
Before becoming the President, Kalam had spent four decades as a scientist and science administrator, mainly at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
