5 Dead, 8 Injured as House Collapses in J&K’s Raesi District
At least five people died and eight others were injured when an under-construction house collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district on Wednesday, 20 December.
Many were trapped when an under-construction house collapsed suddenly near the remote Thub Panassa village, Hindustan Times reported. Reportedly, five died on spot while the others were critically injured and taken to hospital. The rescue operation team’s efforts saved 13 people from the debris.
The deceased were identified as Manzoor Ahmad, Ashiq Ali, Muzaffar Ahmad, Mohammad Gafoor and Gulzar Ahmad, all local residents.
Two ambulances along with doctors, paramedics and drugs were sent the accident site, said Reasi district hospital superintendent Dr Pritam Thakur.
A new house was being constructed in Panassa area with wooden logs but the loose structure crumpled, senior superintendent of police Tahir Bhatt told HT.
