Terrorists Killed in Baramulla Identified as Affiliated to LeT

The encounter broke out between the troops of 53 Bn CRPF, SOG Baramulla, 46 Rashtriya Rifles and militants.

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and militants at Binner in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla.

They have been identified as Suhaib Farooq Akhoon, Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat and Nasir Ahmad Darzi. All three were affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba and were wanted in terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities, reported ANI.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 23 January.

According to ANI, arms and ammunition including three AK-47 rifles were recovered from the site of encounter and there will be further investigation into the terrorists’ complicity in other terror cases.


Previously, Deputy Inspector General had informed ANI that arms and ammunition have been recovered in huge quantity.

“We got info that a few terrorists were in hiding in Baramulla. Security forces were fired at during a search operation; three terrorists were killed in retaliatory firing. We’ve recovered arms and ammunition in huge quantity, their identities are yet to be ascertained.”
