It has been two days since an overbooked British Airways flight – BA256 – to London has been standing at Delhi’s international airport. Passengers were made to wait for four hours after boarding the plane, which was scheduled to leave at 11:40 AM on Saturday, 18 June, without any air conditioning, food or water. More than 24 hours later, a sea of passengers are still waiting at the airport for a definitive statement from authorities, or at least hotel accommodation, as is the norm in such cases.

When contacted by The Quint, British Airways said that the flight is scheduled to depart at 1630 hours today, June 19 and that for accommodation, one should contact airport authorities.

This incident comes a day after London-bound British Airways flight BA36 was cancelled due to a technical snag at Chennai’s international airport. More than 150 people were holed up in the aircraft for five hours before they got any news of the delay. They were later assigned hotels, as the British Airways staff failed to file an official statement on the incident.
