‘Brute Force Can Never be a Solution’: RaGa Slams BJP Over NIT Row
State Congress has demanded a judicial inquiry into the lathi-charge and the lapses in handling the situation.
Rahul Gandhi mounted an attack on the BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, accusing it of using “brute” force against NIT students in Srinagar.
The state Congress has demanded a time-bound judicial inquiry into the lathi-charge and the alleged lapses in the handling of the situation.
It has expressed serious concern over the prevailing situation, and the sense of insecurity among the students and parents which has been “further aggravated due to the uncalled for and unjustified use of force.”
Tensions continued to simmer at the NIT, with outstation students making a slew of demands, including shifting the institute out of Kashmir, and action against the policemen involved in the lathi-charge on Wednesday. An HRD team was rushed to Srinagar from Delhi to resolve the crisis that has unfolded over the last six days.
Congress party spokesman, Manish Tewari, also took a dig at the BJP over the issue.
