Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh ruled out his resignation saying Uttarakhand-like situation will not emerge in Himachal Pradesh as he claimed to have the support of both his MLAs as well as the party.

BJP is hoping for an Uttarakhand-like situation to emerge in Himachal but it would never happen as the entire party and Congress MLAs are solidly behind me. If the Leader of the Opposition P K Dhumal is hoping that my government would fall during the ongoing budget session, congratulate him for his presumption

Virbhadra Accuses BJP of ‘Planting’ Reports in Media

Virbhadra has accused the BJP of “planting” news reports against him and termed it as “cheap” to do politics on the basis of such reports.

The chief minister also claimed that not only the party but the people were also supporting Congress which got 75 per cent votes in the recent panchayati raj and urban local bodies elections and swept the Dharamsala Municipal Corporation polls, winning 14 out of 17 seats.

Singh, who is facing a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a disproportionate asset case, said the matter pertained to Income-Tax Department and the Centre had got the investigations done by the I-T department and CBI and let the matter probed by ED too.

He rejected the charge that he had “forged” documents to hide his income and said such reports appearing in a section of media were “planted.”

Government Would Hardly Last Budget Session, Says Opposition

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in State Legislative assembly, PK Dhumal said that the Virbhadra Singh-led Congress government in the state may fall during the ongoing budget session of Himachal Vidhan Sabha.

He added that the Enforcement Directorate has allegedly accessed some documents, providing some solid evidence against the CM in money laundering case.

After staging a walk-out in the assembly for second consecutive day on the issue of attachment of assets of Virbhadra Singh by ED, Dhumal said the present government would hardly last till the budget session as the evidence and documents allegedly recovered by the ED could lead to his arrest.
