Belgium Will Begin Airstrikes Against ISIS in Syria
According to Belgium, only those areas of Syria under ISIS control will be engaged with in the airstrikes.
- Belgium will extend its F-16 airstrikes against Islamic State jihadists in Iraq into Syria, the Belgian government said today, as it grapples with the fallout from deadly bomb attacks in Brussels in March. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.
- According to a spokesperson for the Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, ‘In accordance with UN Resolution 2249, the engagement will be limited to those areas of Syria under the control of IS and other terrorist groups.’
