A Kolkata-Delhi Air India Flight 701 landed in Delhi 14 hours late after a technical snag grounded the flight on Sunday evening. The flight landed in Delhi at 8:55 am on Monday morning as reported by IBN Live.

The ordeal for the passengers began at around 7:15 pm on Sunday evening when passengers were repeatedly told that the engineers were looking into a technical snag. After that, the passengers were asked to deboard the flight at 10 pm and reach another terminal where there was no crew to attend to them, which led the passengers to protest against the apathy of the airlines for two hours.

Eventually, before the flight took off on Monday morning, the passengers ended up protesting against what they claimed to be preferential treatment given to CPM leader Sitaram Yechury when he arrived, on Monday morning, to board the same flight, reported IBN Live.

Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit and other officials of the High Commission, who were also aboard the flight, were shifted to another flight on Sunday evening.

Air India has in turn clarified that they did not have a flight that night and they had also provided hotel accommodation to the passengers, according to IBN Live.
