Shots were fired outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at 7 Race Course Road in New Delhi late Wednesday night.

The Delhi Police have said that shots were accidentally fired by a constable from inside a police van. Reports also says that it was most likely a burst of an AK-47 due to a mechanical fault. At the moment, no injuries have been reported.

The Delhi police commissioner will submit an incident report to the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Cabinet Secretary on Thursday morning.

A joint probe by the Delhi Police, Intelligence Bureau and other agencies has been ordered into the incident, reports CNN-IBN.
