- A total of 518 Indian prisoners are languishing in Pakistan’s jails.
- 463 of the 518 are fishermen.
- India and Pakistan are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other’s custody on 1 January and 1 July every year in accordance with provisions of the Agreement on Consular Access signed by the two countries on 21 May, 2008.
