Expressing displeasure over the piled up garbage in several areas of Delhi, the Supreme Court asked the Delhi government on Monday about its plans on clearing the garbage.

What are your plans to clear garbage? You have to plan for the future. You don’t have to react to a situation.

The apex court made this observation while hearing a matter pertaining to the suicide of a child's parents after the child contracted and succumbed to dengue, which is a vector borne disease.

“45 metres of height of garbage in places is alarming,” the division bench which headed by Justice Madan Lokur said.

Noting that diseases such as bird flu can spread because of untreated garbage, the SC directed for a meeting of the stakeholders of this issue to be convened with the MCDs and the Delhi government.
