In another ghastly incident of molestation in the capital, a 32-year-old professor was allegedly molested at the terrace of a building in Delhi’s Connaught Place on Thursday, 30 November, reported DNA.

According to the report, the victim had gone to the terrace to smoke during her break time at 1:30 pm. A man reportedly chased her to the terrace but she didn’t suspect any signs.

"I was on a break on the terrace when a man started pacing in front of me. I asked him if there was a problem because it was making me really uncomfortable. He didn’t say anything but straight away started staring at my upper body," the woman told ANI.

I pushed him and threatened to call the police. Instead of feeling deterred, he unzipped his pants, pulled out his penis, and started touching himself. When I tried to run past him, he grabbed me and ejaculated.

The woman ran towards to the entry door to free herself, but the accused had allegedly locked it before coming up. The victim screamed but the accused snatched her phone and hopped on to an adjacent spot and absconded, ANI reported.

The CCTV footage showed the man chasing her, but his face was unclear, the police said.

The woman had called the police and the FIR was lodged under Sections 354 (criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (wrongful confinement), 356 (theft), and 379 (punishment for theft) at the Connaught Place police station. The victim recorded her statement on Friday, 1 December.

On being asked about women’s safety in the heart of the city, the victim told ANI, “Everyone knows that Delhi is one of the most unsafe cities for women right now. But earlier, there was a sense that if you are in a crowded place like CP in broad daylight, you were at least safe. But even that is gone now.”
