Market at Close: Nifty Ends Around 11,000; Sensex Above 37,000

The Indian equity benchmarks resumed declines to clock their worst fall in two weeks on Thursday, 1 August, according to BloombergQuint.

Indian equity investors lost around Rs 1.5 lakh crore of wealth, according to data available with Bombay Stock Exchange.

The Sensex was down 462.80 points at 37,018.32, while the Nifty was down 138 points at 10,980 at close. About 830 shares advanced, 1587 shares declined, and 147 shares were unchanged.

Vedanta, JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, SBI and Tata Motors were among major losers on the Nifty, while Wipro, Bharti Infratel, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Industries and Power Grid Corp were the major losers, reported Moneycontrol.

Meanwhile, the rupee fell to 69.20 against the US dollar against Wednesday’s close of 68.79.
