Commercial banks in several parts of the country were closed on Wednesday, 21 November, on the account Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi, which marks the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

However, Wednesday won’t be the only non-working day as commercial banks in New Delhi, Hyderabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Dehradun, Jammu, Srinagar, Kanpur and Lucknow will be closed on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti on 23 November and the day after (fourth Saturday of the month).

Other cities such as Ahmedabad (Gujarat), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and Chennai (Tamil Nadu) will observe a holiday on Saturday, 24 November. Although banks in these cities were closed on Eid, they will remain open on Friday.

In Kerala, commercial banks will be shut only on Saturday.

Banks in Agartala, Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Imphal, Goa and Patna (and the rest of Bihar) will be closed only on Saturday as there are no holidays for either of the two festivals.
