Around 100 members of Switzerland's Tibetan community held a protest in front of United Nations (UN) headquarters on Tuesday against the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Protesters said there were no human rights in Tibet and called on the UN to "speak out" on the Tibet issue.
Tibet has been a source of controversy ever since Beijing sent troops to occupy the Himalayan region, following the 1949 communist revolution.
It says the region has been part of Chinese territory for centuries, while many Tibetans say it has a long history of Independence under a series of Buddhist leaders.
Xi kicked off a four-day visit to Switzerland on Sunday, the first this century by a Chinese leader.
The visit includes stops at UN institutions in Geneva, the International Olympic Committee headquarters in Lausanne and the World Economic Forum in Davos.
