It is that time of the year again, and I am not talking about Diwali, but Halloween. This year the festival of light (Diwali) is closely followed by the festival of darkness (Halloween). We have decided to desi-fy Halloween a little and present the Pumpkin Awards (it's not a thing, don't Google it) to these deserving characters.
The Scarecrow Raj
Raj Thackeray and his minions have been forever trying their scare-tactics on unsuspecting lovebirds & unabashed 'anti-nationals’. This time, however, Thackeray has caught the big fish (goes by the name Karan Johar).
Interestingly his threats have actually worked, which makes us think that maybe Johar deserves his own pumpkin title for being our desi Courage the Cowardly Dog.
The Butcher of Bollywood
Cut pe cut, cut pe cut, cut pe cut... Pahlaj Nihalani and his love for butchering anything against our parmparas aka traditions is well-known. Poor Mr Sanskari has been solely trusted with the responsibility of the moral upkeep of Indian society. He has to ensure that nobody during any movie has even the slightest chance to say hawjii or even hai hai. People completely misunderstand him. After all, he doesn't chop movies for sport.
Halloween De - Wicked Witch of the East
Shobhaa De is an opinion-maker (ahem, ahem) in this country. She also has immense powers. For example, she can gaze into her cauldron and figure out the goals of the Indian contingent at Rio.
On the other hand, she also can expertly dole out style advice to British royalty while flying around on her broom. Don't go green with jealousy just yet. Becoming an opinion-maker in today’s time isn't easy, and you need a history of misguided tweets to get it right.
The Vampire Swamy
‘Dayan bhi 7 ghar chod ke vaar karti hai' but vampires have no such hang-ups. Subramanian Swamy is notoriously indiscriminate in his attacks. He does not even have any qualms about sinking his teeth into his own party members. He has the power to drain anyone's patience but he mostly operates in the dark recesses of Twitter.
The Trump-o'-lantern
What is orange and has been under the knife? Yes, you guessed it right. Donald Trump invariably wins the Jack-o'-lantern title as one has to give credit where it’s due. Also nobody nails the likeness to Jack-o'-lantern more than Mr. Trump. While Jack-o'-lanterns are supposed to keep evil spirits out, Trump plans on keeping everyone out.
