Rishabh Pant’s half-century against Royal Challengers Bangalore is one he will never forget. The 19-year-old lost his father on Wednesday, but returned to play Delhi Daredevils’ first IPL 10 match in Bengaluru on Saturday.

The young wicketkeeper-batsman played like a champion, scoring 57 off just 36 balls. However, Pant’s second IPL half-century went in vain as the Delhi Daredevils lost by 15 runs.

DD captain Zaheer Khan said:

He played well, and just needed support at the other end. Pant showed a lot of courage, he has undergone personal trauma, we are all with him.

The cricket fraternity including Yuvraj Singh and Virender Sehwag along with the cricketers’ fans also took to Twitter to laud Pant’s grit and determination.
