Recently, the Guwahati airport witnessed something one rarely comes across in an airport! The passenger lounge was flooded after water gushed through the ceiling, following heavy rainfall in the city on Tuesday.

The visuals of water dripping through the ceiling of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport has gone viral on social media.

The heavy rainfall resulted in the damage of the newly constructed canopy of the airport and within few minutes, the passengers lounge was flooded with water. The water entered through the baggage screening area, light sockets and the air-conditioning vents.

The passengers claimed that they were drenched and many had to move their bags from the lounge.

The manager of the airport, PK Tailong, said that the canopy had been recently expanded and it was an initial ‘teething problem’.
