Shashi Kapoor Passes On But Tharoor’s Office Gets Condolence Calls

On Monday, veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passed away after a prolonged illness, at the age of 79 in Mumbai.

But in a tragicomic turn of events, Times Now tweeted out a condolence message mentioning Congress MP Shashi Tharoor. The faux pas did not go unnoticed.

Tharoor also tweeted his condolences and made light of the goof-up of the over-enthusiastic journalists who made the calls to his office.

The channel did apologise to Tharoor for the mix up and wished him good health.

After Times Now unwittingly tweeted about the demise of Tharoor, NewsX followed, but this time it was on prime time television!

Kapoor is survived by his three children. The actor was hospitalised at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.

Actors, directors and politicians alike offered their condolences to the late actor’s family and friends. With an enormous body of work, he was an integral part of Indian cinema.

Famed for the Bollywood dialogue, ‘Mere paas maa hain’ from his film, Deewar, Shashi Kapoor was the youngest son of the first thespian of Indian cinema, Prithviraj Kapoor. Honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2011 and the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2014, late Shashi Kapoor has films like Jab Jab Phool Khile and Namak Halaal to his credit. He also boasted a parallel career in international films like The Householder, Shakespeare Wallah, Pretty Polly, Heat and Dust and more.
