In his first appearance post the #Metoo allegations, Chetan Bhagat shared a story.
Speaking on the last day of the three-day Sahitya Aaj Tak at New Delhi, Bhagat shared that after multiple allegations were made against him, he asked his wife Anusha Bhagat to leave him.
In response, Anusha Bhagat reportedly declined and instead told him that they are “like Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati”, that are “‘Ardhanareeshwar’, a composite androgynous form of Shiv and Shakti.
Adding to his statement, Bhagat said it was trying times for his family. "I saw a new aspect of my wife. She is stronger than me... Just imagine how I can face my mother-in-law, who is a South Indian and me a Punjabi," Bhagat reportedly said.
According to reports, Bhagat went on to add that he felt like an idiot that he was chatting with another woman and claimed that his view about his wife changed that day.
In the wake of the Indian #MeToo movement, author and columnist Ira Trivedi had sent in a legal notice to Chetan Bhagat on 22 October.
The notice charged Chetan with eve-teasing, harassment, cyber-bullying and other cyber crimes under the IT Act ie (Sections 66, 499, 500, 503 IPC). She has also gone ahead and shared a mail trail of her conversation with Bhagat which, she alleged, was misreported.
Chetan Bhagat also denied allegations made by another woman against him.
