Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan on Friday, 20 September, blamed the state government for the recent death of a 22-year old woman techie in Chennai after an illegal hoarding put up by an AIADMK functionary came crashing down on her, throwing her under a water tanker that ran over her on 12 September.

The victim, R Subhashree’s death was also condemned by actor Vijay, who during a launch event requested his fans to not put banners across the state.

Following this, netizens took to Twitter to show solidarity under the hashtag #JusticeforSubhashree.

While many praised Vijay’s stand on the banners, others hailed Haasan’s video on Twtitter, where he said, “such deaths should be treated and booked as murders so they don't repeat.”

‘Many Subhashrees & Raghus Have Been Killed Due to Govt Negligence’

Haasan in the video also said that many “Subhashrees and Raghus have been killed due to government apathy."

K Raghupathy (Raghu) had died in similar fashion in 2017 in Coimbatore when he was run over by a Corporation lorry after his two-wheeler rammed into an arch erected for the MGR Centenary fete then.
