Twitter has fast emerged as a powerful social media website. It is now being hailed as a medium of social change.

This time, the power of this social media website made Anand Mahindra shut down a fountain at the Mumbai office of the Mahindra group.

At a time when Maharashtra is suffering from a severe drought, the Mahindra group had a fountain outside their Mumbai office. Rohit Talwarkar uploaded a picture of this fountain on Twitter and asked Mahindra if this wastage of water could be avoided.

To everyone’s surprise, Anand Mahindra responded to the tweet and responded to Talwarkar saying that he will get the fountain shut down.

Tweeples responded positively to Mahindra’s tweet and praised his quick response.

While many praised Mahindra, there were quite a few who thought that this was not the right step.
