A picture of a porn star was posted from the Twitter account of the Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramnian on Monday.
The picture was posted for a brief period of time. However, Twitter went berserk, furiously indulging in speculation. Some presumed that the CEA’s account had been hacked. Others tweeted that the 57-year-old may have allowed access to a porn site that he may have been visiting.
He later tweeted that his account had been hacked and issued an apology.
Subramanian was rumoured to be the front-runner for the position of Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) before Urjit Patel was appointed.
The incident, not surprisingly, triggered a flurry of tweets.
